We have scheduled now the first formal step in setting up the European research infrastructure EUPLANTCROPP. The Association EUPLANTCROPP, which will support and maintain the research infrastructure on the long term, will be founded on the 25th of July at the notary in Leiden. We will, of course, celebrate the foundation on that day. In addition, we will guarantee the dissemination of this event to a broader audience by way of a short video. The video will be produced by the Dutch SME ‘AC Films’ (www.ACFilms.nl). It will be available on the website in August.
We welcome on the 25th of July the founders of the association, Prof Monique Simmonds, dr. Frank Heemskerk, and Prof Peter Klinkhamer. Monique represents the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew (UK). The plant and fungal collections of Kew are famous. In addition, Kew, and more specifically Monique, has ample experience of turning knowledge of plants and their compounds into R&D projects. Monique run successful projects in food, cosmetics, medicine and agriculture. Frank complements very well the activities of Kew representing the company Research and Innovation Management Services (BE). He is dedicated to organising business in life sciences world-wide. Finally, Peter is the initiator and organiser of EUPLANTCROPP representing Leiden University. Monique, Frank and Peter will explain in the video, the reasons to join EUPLANTCROPP, the importance of it for innovation in Europe, and the expected main achievements the next five years.
