Mid-term review Holland Rijnland project

We are at the mid-term of the start-up project funded by the local Dutch authority Holland Rijnland. This collaboration of 14 communities in the greater area of the City of Leiden aims at, amongst others, stimulating smart growth of the Dutch Greenports, Duin- en Bollenstreek, Boskoop and Aalsmeer. The funding enables EUPLANTCROPP to employ a project manager. Here you will find some high-lights of the first half a year of the project.

The acquisition of user-based R&D-projects in the area of Holland Rijnland resulted so far in 8 project ideas. Project ideas are worked out to full proposals, which will be reviewed subsequently by an independent panel of experts. If positive, a proposal will receive a certification of quality. The project can, subsequently, be executed by members of the Association. The procedure of certification is ready now. The installation of the panel is in progress.

The build-up of the Association progresses. We have 11 members now, which are distributed over 5 European countries. We expect to increase the number to c. 20 members and 8 countries by the end of the year. We adopted a strategy of establishing National Coordinators (NCs) to guarantee the efficacy of EUPLANTCROPP. Besides the Dutch NC at the headquarters in Leiden, we have one for Spain now. It is the ICA-CSIC at Madrid. ICA is represented by Dr Azucena Gonzalez. She started the acquisition of user-based R&D-projects in Spain. We are working on the establishment of a NC in Italy as well. We strive ultimately at establishing a NC in each home country of members of EUPLANTCROPP.
